About West Loop CyberYETIs
Welcome to the West Loop CyberYETIs, a youth hockey organization based in Chicago's West Loop community. Our mission is simple: provide young athletes with a positive, competitive, and development-focused environment where they can become better hockey players, better teammates, and more confident individuals.
From a player's first season on the ice to competitive travel hockey, the CyberYETIs are committed to creating opportunities for athletes to learn, compete, develop, and belong.
๐ Our Mission
The West Loop CyberYETIs exist to develop youth hockey players through quality coaching, structured practices, competitive games, and a team-first culture. We believe player development is about much more than wins and losses.
Our goal is to help every player improve their skating, puck skills, hockey IQ, confidence, sportsmanship, and understanding of the game while creating an experience that makes them excited to come back to the rink.
Compete. Develop. Belong.
โ๏ธ The CyberYETI Philosophy
Hockey players develop at different speeds. Some athletes may immediately stand out, while others make their biggest improvements after months or even years of consistent practice. Our coaches focus on long-term development rather than judging young players solely by their performance in a single game or season.
We challenge our players to compete hard while understanding that mistakes are part of learning. Practices are designed to keep players moving, thinking, competing, and making decisions in situations that translate directly to games.
Our Core Values
- Effort: Bring energy and a willingness to work every time you step on the ice.
- Development: Focus on improvement and becoming a better player every day.
- Teamwork: Support your teammates and understand that team success comes before individual statistics.
- Respect: Respect teammates, coaches, officials, opponents, parents, and the game itself.
- Accountability: Take responsibility for your preparation, attitude, effort, and actions.
- Confidence: Learn to trust your skills, make decisions, and compete without fear of making mistakes.
- Fun: Never forget why we started playing hockey in the first place.
๐๏ธ Player Development
CyberYETIs practices combine fundamental skill development with competitive drills and game-like situations. Coaches build age-appropriate training plans designed to challenge players while reinforcing proper technique.
Training Areas Include:
- Skating fundamentals and edge control
- Acceleration, speed, and agility
- Puck handling and puck protection
- Passing and receiving
- Shooting and scoring techniques
- Offensive and defensive positioning
- Small-area games
- Battle and compete drills
- Hockey IQ and decision-making
- Team systems and game situations
As players progress through the program, practices become increasingly focused on speed, decision-making, positional awareness, and executing skills under pressure.
๐ฅ Goalie Development
Goalies are an important part of the CyberYETIs program, and we believe they deserve development opportunities specifically designed for their position.
Goaltenders participate with their teams while also receiving goalie-focused instruction throughout the season. Training may include skating and movement, positioning, rebound control, tracking, recovery, post integration, game situations, and puck handling.
Our goal is to develop technically sound, confident goaltenders who understand the position and enjoy competing in net.
